Team Big Bang, from the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) successfully won the Imagine Cup 2009 category for Mobile Device Award.
Team of David Samuel, Dody Dharma, Dominikus know Putranto, Samuel Simon won this project over the name Moses (Malaria Endemic Observation and Surveillance System).
This technology combines the application client runtime with the application in the PDA to do the analysis and diagnosis of patients suspected of malaria infected quickly. This solution is expected to help the people residing in remote areas in order to obtain health services quickly and precisely.
As cited information through authorized, Friday (10/7/2009), Big Bang to create a virtual character (avatar) named Marceline, which can help health workers. At the time of diagnosis, the Marceline akan ask patients a few things in relation to the disease malaria, using voice recognition technology.
After all data associated with the anamnesa is obtained, health is also equipped with a tool called PDAscope which consists of a modified microscope plus PDA. PDAscope this like a microscope that is made with original materials cheaper. This is a consideration of Big Bang on the economic factors in the implementation of this solution.
PDAscope later this can become a tool in order to complement the camera that is on a PDA that can meneropong blood sample taken from the patient. After recording a PDA is a picture of the results of blood samples, health workers can send a blood sample picture to the health center that is on a location far from the place.
Moda communication, which is determined to make the data transmission is to use 3G technology. This is done with the assumption that the telecommunication provider in Indonesia will soon expand the coverage of data services in locations remote.
After that, the system will do an analysis of the grain-grain the blood is doing on the pattern recognition parameters which have been determined previously.
The process is blood, the grain is a progress in technology assisted by humans network algorithm, a method which helps speed up the determination of whether a blood sample is infected the disease malaria or not. At this time to determine the diagnosis is still using the manual that tend to have high levels of error.
Immediately after the system get the grain of the examination of blood, the system will automatically send the results to the health workers who are still in the field.
